Mt. Nebo Community Based Organization

Mt. Nebo Community Based Organization (CBO) is situated on the outskirts of Bungoma Central Business District at Kanduyi. The site is about four kilometers from the CBD. The group was formed in 2018 but registered in 2021 so as to become more effective in dealing with issues affecting the community.

Our vision is to be a premier rescue center for the vulnerable in society in Kenya.

To provide recovery, shelter and settlement as well as offer guidance and counselling for victims of gender-based violence, persons with disability and girl child through appropriate initiatives while networking with stake holders for a safer community.

Our center provide one-to-one counselling for women and girls who have experienced rape, sexual abuse or any form of sexual violence

Creation of referral system with protection agencies to identify and resolve child and women abuse cases within the community is one of our core mandates

We recognize the  role of faith based organisations in preventing and responding to sexual, intimate partner and gender-based violence in conflict settings

Our prevention efforts focuses on equipping volunteer community mobilizers to educate the wider communities on GBV through awareness events and individual interactions

We believe youth groups should spearhead the promotion of peace, fight prejudice and injustices against vulnerable members of society

Taking the fight against gender-based violence to schools: Teachers and better trained school guidance counselors play a key role in providing reproductive health training and support a system that allows victims of violence to report concerns and grievances
